Six Hours 49 Minutes, 19 Innings, Lights Out

Yankee Stadium ~ www.nj.com
It's only April and there's already high drama in the long and storied rivalry between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

In their first game of the season, the Yankees tied the game 3-3 with Chase Headley's home run with two outs in the ninth inning. In the 12th inning, the lights went out near the foul posts for 16 minutes with Carlos Beltran at the plate. Yankee fans turned their smartphone lights on to try and light the field!

David Ortiz and Mark Teixeira hit home runs in the 16th inning to keep the game tied 4-4. The Red Sox took the lead again in the 18th inning, only to have the Yankees tie it up once again. Finally, in the 19th inning at 2:13 am, the Red Sox took and held a 6-5 lead on a passed ball and sacrifice fly.

They'll suit up in a few hours at 1:05 pm today for another game in the Bronx. Bring your pillow.
