Beavers at Cross River Reservoir
A visit to Cross River Reservoir last week along Croton Lake Road in Katonah revealed something new, or so I thought.
On similar walks over the last 33 years, I'd never come across a fallen tree like this one, and then another, and then several more.
Their pattern and location on the water's edge made me realize I had encountered something very old – beavers building a dam. And a beaver lodge.
Beavers are not only busy; they're very patient.
