Venite Adoremus Dominum

C. nmhschool
Last night's Christmas Vespers performance by the Northfield Mount Hermon Concert Choir at Saint Mary's church in New York City was beautiful.

A highlight was the singing of the prayer labyrinth Magnificat, composed by Christine Donkin.

The composition is descibed here:
"She introduces us to a chant at the start, with solo voices singing the words of Mary, drawing the listener into her thoughts.  The chant is repeated throughout the piece by soloists, as the choir supports the text through a series of quiet tone clusters.  The notes and vowels for the tone clusters come from the notes and words the soloists are singing."
