Face Masks & Covid-19 Coronavirus

The Centers for Disease Control has issued a warning and graphic illustration about the safe use of respiratory face masks for men with beards. If the Coronavirus gets a foothold here in America, I'll shave my winter full beard.

You look just like . . .

Obi-Wan Kenobi ~ Alec Guinness / Ewan McGregor

We were at a public event last week and at the end a young woman approached me and said, "You know, you look just like Obi-Wan Kenobi." She said it sincerely and with that eager look of flattery. My face has its close-cropped winter beard now, so of course I smiled and said, "Thank you."

Then my ego kicked in. Should I ask if she meant the Alec Guinness Obi-Wan Kenobi? No, surely she meant the Ewan McGregor Obi-Wan Kenobi. After all, I have Scottish ancestry and my beard used to be red. I didn't bother.

Such is life in our 60s when we're not in front of the mirror.
