42

Barton Silverman ~ The New York Times
Last night, and tonight at Yankee Stadium, big leaguers are wearing number 42, in honor of Jackie Robinson and the day, April 15, 1947, be broke the color barrier in baseball. The New York Yankees' ace closer, Mariano Rivera, is the only active player still wearing the number until he retires at the end of this season.
