Social Gerrymandering

More government overreaching and social engineering by activist lawyers. If we're really trying to right past wrongs, we should just give the land back to the Indians.

Read this press release issued by the Anti-Discrimination Center who litigated to force Westchester County to "pay more than $60 million and develop at least 750 housing units in the most residentially segregated white municipalities in the County." Given the premise that we'll all be better off in a more integrated community, does it really make sense to house less affluent people in suburbs where EVERYTHING costs more than it does elsewhere? No one is being shut out of towns like Bedford on the basis of race or any other factor other than whether they can afford it. For example, gas in Bedford is 30 cents more a gallon than it is 15 miles away. Milk, bread, taxes, booze, clothing, cigarettes, etc. The simple reason there aren't more poor people in towns like Bedford is because it's too expensive.

Welcome to the high-rent district.

P.S. The ADC's homepage has a convenient link to Obama's inaugural address.
